Following the Supreme Court Overturning Roe vs. Wade, The Abortion Battle Has Turned To the States – And It’s Getting Vicious (Guest: Jim Harden)

Now that the Supreme Court has officially overturned Roe vs. Wade, the individual battles that are following in various states surrounding abortion have begun.

Today, judges have managed to ban abortion laws in both Louisiana and Utah, while a federal court in South Carolina is working on passing a law that would restrict the procedure after six weeks of pregnancy.

In addition, a number of clinics in Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi and Texas have filed lawsuits, looking for relief from state laws that would eventually put them out of business. Arguments are set to take place tomorrow, with Planned Parenthood and others set to argue the benefits of abortion, even with pre-set laws.

This is merely the beginning, as it’s expected that other lawsuits and legal actions could take place that could stop abortion laws in their tracks. Joining us now to discuss this is Rev. James Harden, M. Div., who serves as the CEO of CompassCare Pregnancy Services. He also pioneered the first measurable and repeatable medical model in the pregnancy center movement.

Q&A:

  1. Is this merely the beginning of the battle over abortion rights through various states? Do you believe things could get even more complicated in the months ahead?
  2. You’ve spoken in the past about how some pro-life clinics (including CompassCare’s) have seen a rise in violence. Do you believe this will increase as well?
  3. There has been some demand from many for the White House to possibly intervene in the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe vs. Wade, including potentially declaring some kind of executive action. What’s your take on this?
  4. What do you think states will do to escalate how seriously they’re taking these new abortion laws? How do you believe people will react to these?
  5. Where can we learn more about CompassCare and its services?
    1. You can find out more information on our community page.
