Will Permitless Concealed Carry Grow Further In 2025?

Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford discusses the benefits of permitless Constitutional-Carry, and how it might grow.

2024 was a turbulent year when it came to gun rights, particularly with states that tried to pass ridiculous laws that violated said rights of private gun owners.

But the Second Amendment of the Constitution eventually prevailed, and though the fight continues in some states, over half of the United States (29 in all) now allow permitless Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed Carry as it’s better known.

Some of these prominent states include Florida, Louisiana, Arizona and West Virginia. But the question is if 2025 will be the year that more states switch over to this policy.

That might be questionable, given how some states continue to embrace certain gun laws, or require a permit. But with Donald Trump set to re-take the Presidency later this month, there’s a good chance that more states could be open to the idea.

Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, who currently serves as spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. Stephen is the “hero with a gun” from the Sutherland Springs incident in 2017, which he has since co-written a book about. We welcome him to the show!

Q&A:

  1. What would you say are the benefits to a state that allows permitless Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed-Carry?
  2. Why do you think some states refuse to allow permitless Constitutional-Carry to happen? Are they that concerned about who carries guns in the open? Or is it something else?
  3. With Donald Trump set to re-enter the Presidency this month, what does that say about the rights of private gun owners? Could he serve as a benefit against states that try to implement ridiculous gun laws?
  4. Where do you see the discussion surrounding gun control going this year?
  5. You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
  6. Where can people find your book?
    1. You can purchase the book here on Amazon, both in paperback and Kindle format.
  7. Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
