Why Did Agents of the Chinese Communist Party Launch an Arson Attack In a Small California City? (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times’ Nan Su’s recent report explains just what they were up to – and what legal ramifications could come from it.

There have been a number of stories making the rounds about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) performing some actions on United States soil. However, a new report from the Epoch Times explains what they ended up doing in the community of Yermo, California back in July 2021.

The FBI managed to press charges against CCP agents following their act of arson. Reports indicate that a Chinese secret police agent attacked a particular item in Liberty Sculpture Park, located in the San Bernadino area.

A witness described the item as a giant human-head shaped sculpture named “CCP virus,” explaining that it “was heartbreaking to watch it burning down.” Apparently, the group took objection to it, including how the front portion of the sculpture featured half of the face of Chinese leader Xi Jinping. It was initially completed just a month prior, marking the 32nd anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre.

Artist Jonas Yuan, the witness to the arson activity, noted, “The communist regime is afraid of two things: large-scale uprising and international embarrassment.”

The case is still ongoing in court. But here to talk more about the CCP’s attack on this sculpture – and its potentially growing presence in the United States – is Nan Su, the investigative reporter who wrote the piece. His expertise in all things China-related should prove useful in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. How shocked are you to hear something like this happen, especially in a small place in California of all places?
  2. Do you believe the Chinese Communist Party have a growing presence within the United States? Could it continue to expand in 2023?
  3. Artist Jonas Yuan noted, “The communist regime is afraid of two things: large-scale uprising and international embarrassment.” Would you say this is a spot-on statement?
  4. It seems ironic that something that symbolizes what took place in a massacre years ago gets attacked again. Do you believe the CCP got the point across that they were trying to make? Or will this simply make them look worse?
  5. Could we possibly see the CCP attack similar exhibits in the future, should it be something that they consider insulting and offensive?
  6. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
