Why Are So Many Students In the United States Protesting In Favor of Gaza? (Guest: David Rubin)

The former Mayor of Shiloh discusses the ongoing battle between universities and police, and what may be motivating students to sound off.

The fight between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has certainly left a number of different opinions on the matter, with many pointing fingers over who’s to blame. But a number of college students and faculty in the United States have their minds made up – Israel is to blame.

Over the course of the week, hundreds have been arrested at universities, including Columbia, for voicing their opinions against Israel and even setting up camps. As a result to the growing resistance, many have had to shift to online learning, in an effort to keep students safe.

And it’s continuously getting out of hand. Even more people have begun to protest following Columbia earlier this week, and some are even getting into physical altercations and spray painting anti-Israel graffiti. Schools and police alike have issued warnings about these, noting that they are “absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.” However, that doesn’t appear to be slowing them down.

So what is the big motivation behind these protests? Here to discuss the results of the antisemitism grades is David Rubin, former mayor of Shiloh, Israel, and Founder of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Welcome, David.
