A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America discusses a recent piece surrounding the controversial 3D printed devices.
For some strange reason, the Biden Administration, alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have been on the warpath against “conversion devices” that turn a semiautomatic firearm into a “full auto.”
This was specifically held against a gun owner named Matthew Hoover, who was unjustly given a five year sentence for selling “keycards” that are treated as unregistered machine conversion devices.
However, in a recent fact sheet, the Gun Owners of America’s Aidan Johnson explained that such a ban against private gun owners isn’t just archaic, but also ineffective.
“The Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986, banned the manufacture, sale, or transfer of any new machineguns after enactment. Pre-ban machineguns are now extremely expensive and can only be owned and transferred lawfully under the burdensome regulations of the NFA. Post-ban machineguns may only be manufactured, sold, or transferred by special Federal Firearms Licensees to the military or law enforcement,” Johnson noted.
“But an auto sear or a Glock switch can be made at home on a $100 3D printer in a matter of minutes. The advent of 3D printing technology and recent illegal importations from China have proven the ban to be completely ineffective. The rise in new “machinegun conversion devices” is further proof that gun laws only apply to law abiding citizens and do nothing to stop criminals.”
He notes that the law in question is nothing short of unconstitutional, and believes with Trump’s re-election in office, it could very well be done away with. Private gun owners can certainly hope.
A spokesman for the group joins us now to discuss this matter further.
Sam Parades is available to speak on this subject, serving as Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America.
Stephen Willeford, the 2017 “hero with a gun” who serves as the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America, is also available.
Q&A:
- What do you think about the ban on “conversion devices” as a whole? Why do you believe it’s so unnecessary?
- Is this just the Biden Administration and the ATF trying to “get one over” on private gun owners?
- With Donald Trump now transitioning back to the President’s office, is there a good chance we’ll see such an act overturned?
- What about those that are “concerned” about these devices being able to be printed privately in homes? Do they not understand that they’re not a huge safety concern?
- FOR STEPHEN: You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
- FOR STEPHEN: Where can people find your book?
- Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
