Gun Owners of America spokesman Stephen Willeford discusses the state of gun laws in 2025, and if Trump’s re-entry into the White House will provide assistance.
This year has certainly been a challenging one for many states when it comes to gun laws, as many attempted to introduce restrictions that went against everything that the Second Amendment stood for. But the real question is if 2025 will be any different.
Some states are already taking action in the New Year. For instance, a new Minnesota gun law is set to take effect, banning guns with “binary triggers” that allow for more rapid fire.
Delaware is also following suit, adding that college and universities be added to a list of school zones where guns are prohibited – something that could hamper those that practice Constitutional-Carry, or Concealed-Carry.
2025 could be a very interesting year when it comes to gun laws, especially as Donald Trump is set to re-enter the Presidency.
Joining us now to discuss this matter further is Stephen Willeford, who currently serves as spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. Stephen is the “hero with a gun” from the Sutherland Springs incident in 2017, which he has since co-written a book about. We welcome him to the show!
Q&A:
- What are your thoughts on gun laws as a whole for 2024? Were most of them unnecessary and restricting the rights of private gun owners?
- What about the new laws that are set to take effect in 2025, namely what’s happening in Minnesota and Delaware?
- With Donald Trump re-entering the White House in early 2025, is there a chance that private gun owners will be “given a break” when it comes to these gun laws?
- Is it possible that many will try to butt heads with Trump and his administration when it comes to setting up their own gun laws?
- Where do you see the Gun Owners of America going in 2025 as they continue to fight for the rights of private gun owners?
- You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
