The law enforcement veteran explains why action needs to be taken before it gets far worse.
If President Joe Biden needed any evidence that the Border Crisis has reached critical levels, he needn’t look any further than Aurora, Colorado.
Armed Venezuelan gang members have terrorized citizens within certain apartment complexes around the city as early as November 2023, based on findings by a local Denver law firm. The letter they produced indicates just how bad the situation has gotten, with the Whispering Pines Apartments complex being overtaken by the Tren de Aragua gang.
“The gang’s [motive] appears to be to unlawfully move gang members, as well as vulnerable immigrant families, into vacant units,” Attorney T. Markus Funk explained in the letter. “The gang also forces rent-paying residents out to create more open units and use the apartments for purposes of illegal activities such as prostitution.”
Video footage has emerged online from some of their activities. As such, Aurora officials have noted that gang violence was “isolated” as it was looking to shut down certain apartment buildings with known gang activity. But will this truly be enough to stop the threat?
