Two Former Officers Have Been Indicted With Criminal Charges Over Uvalde Failure (Guest: Michael Letts)

The law enforcement veteran discusses the charges, and why this will serve as a lesson in how to keep people safe.

Just over two years after the tragic school shooting in Uvalde that resulted in the death of 19 children and two teachers, a grand jury has decided to act with criminal charges against two key figures that failed to properly execute a response.

Former Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo and former school police officer Adrian Gonzales have been indicted, with Arredondo facing 10 counts of child endangerment and known criminal negligence. Both parties will face felony charges surrounding abandoning and endangering a child.

The response to Uvalde back in May 2022 was nothing short of disastrous, with hundreds of officers and responders standing outside, unable to contain the suspect due to procedures. As a result, many Uvalde citizens were furious, resulting in Arredondo resigning from his position.

What lesson can be learned from these indictments? Joining us now to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships.

Michael’s expertise in all things law and order make him a great guest on this subject. Welcome!
