TOPIC: National Police Union Backs Unvaccinated Officers – Amid Mandates

The Fraternal Order of Police, a national police union that represents 356,000 officers, backs officers who choose not to get vaccinated. With local, state, and federal officials pressuring businesses and people with government dictated vaccine mandates, the FOP has decided that “individual and personal choice” still matter.

One of the most significant debates to date nationwide is the attempted mandate by leftists with political power forcing first responders and the military to be vaccinated, which will force thousands to resign when we need them the most. It is great to know that there is an army of freedom lovers like the Fraternal Order of Police and other law enforcement unions that support the efforts to end the demonization and politicization of America’s law enforcement heroes!” Michael Letts, CEO/Founder of InVest USA.

Some police departments around the country are requiring vaccine mandates including Michigan’s Van Buren Township, San Francisco, Denver, the state of Illinois, and NY Mayor Bill de Blasio who promised “consequences” if city government employees aren’t vaccinated and don’t wear a mask. FOP executive director Jim Pasco criticized any leader mandating the shot as, “management by tantrum.”

The FOP support of officers comes on the heels of thousands of police officers either retiring or leaving the force entirely after the mistreatment by anti-police civic leaders and activists such as BLM and Antifa since early 2020. Even the NYC Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association is suing for “inhumane treatment” due to “deplorable conditions” to work for the NYPD.

Discussion Points:

  • What kind of impact do you think this will have on police morale around the country?
  • Will officers face any backlash from their local civic leaders over this stance?
  • What are you hearing from your former colleagues still in law enforcement?
  • We are seeing that ‘defund the police’ is not popular any longer, will the FOP position help us to get out of that mindset?
  • The top issue for voters right now is crime, will this enable law enforcement to get re-funded and re-established as positive first-responders who truly ‘protect and serve’ their communities?

GUEST: Michael A Letts is the CEO and Founder of  In-VestUSA, a national grassroots non-profit organization that is helping hundreds of communities provide thousands of bullet-proof vests for their police forces through educational, public relations, sponsorship, and fundraising programs.
