TOPIC: Int’l Mother’s Organization Working Under the Radar of Oppression with Afghan Women

“Women in Afghanistan are burning their diplomas and degrees, so the Taliban do not know they are educated. Mother’s Of Pre-schoolers (MOPs) works in countries like Afghanistan under the radar by using the common denominator of motherhood to gather women and train them as leaders—despite the political and cultural oppression.” Mandy Arioto, CEO of MOPs

To Afghanistan women having to buy burqa’s to cover up to comply with the Taliban represents the sudden and devastating loss of rights gained over the past 20 years—something that women in western countries take for granted: the right to work, to study, to move, and even live in peace.

One fired up Mom can take on the world—and win. Moms are some of the most catalytic and underestimated influencers on the planet, even in oppressed nations. Every Mom has within her the power to make her world and that of her family and friendship circle better.

MOPs has groups that meet in closed countries all over the world. Women are not allowed to celebrate their own birthdays but are learning how to be leaders in their homes and communities through this outreach.
