Another state has eliminated the requirement for a permit to carry a pistol.
New
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has signed a constitutional carry bill into law.
When the law goes into effect, it will make Alabama the 22nd constitutional carry state.
Giving us more details is a spokesperson from the Second Amendment Foundation.
Q&A:
- Did the move by Alabama to allow pistols to be carried without a permit come as a surprise to you?
Answer: Not really. Alabama is the 22nd state to do it, and there are more on the way!
- What are the benefits and or dangers of having so many people carrying concealed weapons without permits?
Answer: In the 21 other states where you can now carry a firearm without a permit, the only real danger has been to criminals who pose a threat to public safety.
- What statistics do you have to support your claims?
Answer: The data released by the states and the U. S. Justice Department.
- This brings the total of permitless carry states to 22. What states do you expect will soon pass similar legislation?
Answer: Most likely Florida and Georgia.
- Tell us about the surge in gun ownership nationally.
Answer: Gun ownership has been at record levels since 2019, caused by the pandemic, violent crimes, defunding of police, and fear of new strict laws to limit gun ownership.
- Tell us more about your work at the Second Amendment Foundation?
Answer: The Second Amendment Foundation is the leading legal defense organization defending gun rights in the courts. We have won over 80 percent of the case law supporting gun rights and have another case before the U.S. Supreme Court as we speak! Visit us at: www.SAF.org
