TOPIC: Biden Anti-trust Executive Order Threatens Post-Covid Growth, Undermines Free Markets

GUEST: Jack Hanney, CEO of Patriot Gold Group.

Biden signed a competition executive order targeting big business which is more like a sweeping policy agenda for the business sector and includes a flurry of consumer-directed initiatives that could lead to new federal regulations. Business and trade groups quickly expressed opposition, arguing this order would stifle economic growth just as the U.S. economy is recovering from the coronavirus pandemic.

“In addition to rapid and rising inflation, irresponsible deficit spending, energy dependence, rising gas prices and threats to raise taxes, eerily similar to the 1970’s when Fed Chair Paul Volcker was forced to raise interest rates in 1980-1982 leading to a double dip recession known as the “Volcker Moment.” – Jack Hanney

Following Biden’s first 100 days we are seeing the Democrat party move full steam ahead toward economic disaster with complete disregard for the thousands of businesses trying to get a break to continue their slow rebound from the pandemic.

Biden’s Competition Executive Order:

•       This sweeping order includes 72 actions and recommendations that involve a dozen federal agencies and is intended to reshape thinking around corporate consolidation and antitrust laws.

•       Encouraging the FTC to ban or limit noncompete agreements.

•       Restoring “net neutrality” rules undone during the Trump administration.

•       Establishing a “White House Competition Council” to lead federal responses to large corporations’ growing economic power.

•       The order calls on the Federal Maritime Commission to take action against shippers claiming that American exporters are charged exorbitant rates.

•       World Shipping Council CEO explained these issues are congestion problems not market concentration issues.
