The U.S. Are Finally Ready To Crack Down On China’s Illegal Organ Trade – But How Much of an Effect Will Its Bill Have? (Guest: Nan Su)

The Epoch Times’ investigative reporter explains why, even with a bill passed, there are big problems to overcome.

Although tempers have flared between China and the United States for some time now over international issues, one particular one could really open up how bad organ harvesting has become.

Per this report from Epoch TV, international human rights lawyer David Matas recently spoke about the Chinese regime harvesting the organs of living Falun Gong practitioners. There’s been a mountain of evidence surrounding this, but, up until recently, the United States hasn’t done much about it.

But that changed with the House of Congress passing the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2023, also known as H.R. 1154. With this bill, the group hopes to sanction anyone involved in forced organ trafficking. It also called for annual government reporting on such harvesting and up to 20 years in jail.

As the bill eventually makes its way through the Senate and potentially President Joe Biden’s desk, there are still questions lingering. “We’ve been lying to ourselves so long, we don’t know the truth when we see it,” Matas explained.

“What you’ve got with China is complete denial, cover-up, obfuscation, and counter-narrative of the most implausible sort. Unfortunately, the problem isn’t too little evidence, it’s too much.”

How will this bill affect the market as a whole, or is China even concerned about what the U.S. is trying to apply with it? Joining us now to discuss this further is Nan Su, an investigative reporter for The Epoch Times who specializes in all things China. His expertise should be very helpful on this matter.

Q&A:

  1. Some people don’t see such organ harvesting as a problem – but is that the way China wanted it? Why did awareness of it suddenly pick up?
  2. What do you think prompted the House of Congress to act with the passing of a bill to sanction anyone guilty of it?
  3. Do you believe the bill itself will make a big difference with this matter, or will China continue to operate like it’s business as usual?
  4. Could this create a further rift between the U.S. and China, especially since CCP leader Xi Jinping seems so driven to start a war?
  5. What other actions do you believe the Senate, House of Congress and even the President can do to further affect this market, if anything?
  6. Speaking of what’s going on with China, you recently contributed to a new Epoch Times documentary called The Final WarTell us more about it and why it’s such a compelling subject with everything that’s happening right now.
  7. Where can we learn more about you and see your work over on The Epoch Times?
