The Supreme Court Just Handed Joe Biden a Victory Over “Ghost Guns” – But Will It Cost Private Gun Owners?

A member of the Second Amendment Foundation discusses the reinstatement of Biden’s regulation, and how it could affect gun owners.

President Joe Biden has been on the hunt for guns for some time now, discussing banning “assault weapons” at great length, amongst other regulations. But he’ll take whatever victories he can get, like the one the Supreme Court just handed him.

The Court recently reinstated Biden’s rule surrounding the regulation of “ghost guns,” or guns that are assembled in the privacy of one’s home. The President and his administration has been pursuing these mainly because they lack a serial number, making them unable to track them properly. As such, Biden believes these are the “weapons choice for many criminals.”

Previously, Judge Reed O’Connor of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas had blocked the rule, noting that this regulation was, in fact, violating existing law. Not to mention defying aspects of the Second Amendment.

But despite the Judge deeming the “unlawful agency action” on the part of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), it appears Biden has his victory. For now, anyway, since it was granted on “an emergency basis.”

With us now to discuss the matter further is a representative for the Second Amendment Foundation, which firmly believes in the rights of all citizens to bear arms. Their expertise will certainly be welcome in this matter.

Q&A:

  1. First off, do you believe Biden has a right to go after “ghost guns”? Do criminals truly use them the most, or does Biden not have the numbers right when it comes to tracking that data?
  2. Does this regulation affect potential gun collectors, or citizens that are just looking for a means to keep themselves safe?
  3. How much would you say does this gun regulation defy the Second Amendment? Did O’Connor have a point in this regard?
  4. Where do you think the battle will go next? Will Biden continue going after real guns? Could he possibly make movement on his proposed “assault weapons” ban?
  5. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
