The Republican Party Isn’t Lowering Its Stance On Gun Rights – Nor Should It

A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation explains why the GOP should stand its ground, despite political pressure.

As pressure builds with the forthcoming elections, many are wondering if the GOP might consider its stance on gun control. However, it continues to hold firm on the Second Amendment and the rights it provides.

This comes after a recent debate between vice presidential candidates Sen. JD Vance and Governor Tim Walz, in which gun control came up as a discussion topic.

A recent poll by the Pew Research Center shows the ongoing support by the Republican side for gun rights. 40 percent of supporters of former President Donald Trump say that “An increase in the number of guns in the United States is good for society,” while a whopping 86 percent note “Gun ownership does more to increase safety by allowing law-abiding citizens to protect themselves” over “Reduce safety by giving too many people access to firearms and increasing misuse.”

“Allowing law-abiding citizens to carry their firearms and to protect themselves and to protect their families… that’s an issue that will always be an important one for the Republican Party.”

And the Second Amendment Foundation, a group that firmly believes in everyone’s right to bear and keep arms, are in full agreement.

A spokesman for the group joins us now to discuss the situation further.

Q&A:

  1. Republicans are still standing by the notion that Americans have the right to own firearms. What do you think about the findings of this recent poll?
  2. Could Democrats potentially find a way to turn the Republicans’ belief in these rights against them when it comes to the elections?
  3. Do you believe Harris will use Trump’s stance on guns against him when it comes to getting those “desperation votes” for her campaign?
  4. If elected, could Harris try to institute gun bans, as Biden has tried to do over the past few years?
  5. Why do you think Concealed-Carry isn’t given more consideration at times like these? Are people truly that concerned about “more guns being on the street”?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation?
