The New Mom Economy

TOPIC: The New Mom Economy

While the world turned upside down with Covid, millions of Moms were attempting to find a balance worthy of Ringling Brother’s Circus between new roles as teacher and caregiver, while perfecting Zoom meetings and daily job tasks.

Today’s post-Covid Mom is resilient, resourceful, and motivated more than ever to do everything within their power to get back to the lives their families had pre-Covid. However, a recent study by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) showed that 69% of Moms planned to stay home instead of going back to the office. Only 31% were going to return to the office. This has impacted families—and created a new Mom Economy valued at $46 billion.

The result has been a gigantic shift in how women think about balancing their career and family life. Working Moms may finally have an opportunity to drive a better work-life balance for themselves and their families.

Q & A Discussion:

  • How has COVID impacted moms and families? Employers?
  • Give us a picture of what American Moms are carrying both in responsibility and economically?
  • How has work changed for Moms? Dad? Is this a new permanent situation or temporary?
  • Where do you see the next 12-18 months headed for Moms?
  • How do work, finances and responsibilities change?
  • How can Moms find a community today?
