South Carolina Sets a Great New Precedent With Its Free Concealed Weapons Permit Courses

A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation explains why this is a great move for those interested in protection.

In an effort to assist those that are interested in Concealed-Carry, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has announced that it will launch a free Concealed Weapons Permit instruction program. It works alongside the recently enacted Constitutional-Carry law.

With it, it will offer two free CWP courses to be offered in each county every month. What’s more, they will be provided at no charge to South Carolina residents.

They do need to qualify with a driver’s license or owning property within the state, and must bring their own handgun and 25 rounds of ammunition for the shooting portion of the class. It will be open to residents 18 years or older.

The class will offer at least four hours of instruction covering basic firearms safety, as well as fundamentals, nomenclature, self-defense laws and regulations for carrying a firearm legally within the state.

Those that are interested can register for the classes here.

A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation joins us now to explain why this is a fundamental move forward for those that wish to learn more about Concealed-Carry.
