Russian atrocities in Ukraine prove the need for an armed populace Guests: SAF

Newly-revealed Russian outrages, including the attacks on a maternity hospital and innocent women and children, further reinforce the necessity for all European nations to have an armed and trained populace. That’s according to our guest from the 2nd Amendment Foundation.

Q&A:

  1. Several news agencies are reporting barbaric attacks against Ukraine by Russia, which should erase any doubt about the intent of the Russian invaders, including shelling a maternity home. So what do we know about this and what needs to be done?

Answer: We need every able-bodied citizen in Ukraine to have the tools to fight back. This is not a game of hypotheticals. Innocent women and children are being targeted, and Ukrainian citizens need to defend themselves. That means a lot of guns need to get into a lot of hands quickly.

  1. Until recently, didn’t Ukraine have strong anti-gun laws for its citizens?

Answer: Yes, that was true, but it all changed when Russia invaded, and there was an immediate policy change, allowing citizens the right to bear arms.

  1. Other European nations do not have a 2nd Amendment or its equivalent, right?

Answer: That’s true. The rest of Europe should take a lesson from what is now unfolding in Ukraine. In the United States, our founders wisely included the constitutional protection of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms, but nations in Europe have no such provisions. Still, we believe it is incumbent upon all countries to adopt a proactive stance, considering what we’ve seen unfolding over the past three weeks in Ukraine.

  1. Tell us more.

Answer: An armed and trained population can defend their homes and homeland. Right now, other countries should be promoting private gun ownership rather than preventing their citizens from having firearms and being well-trained in their use.

  1. Has the anti-gun lobby in the United States changed its tune from the early massacres in Ukraine before citizens could defend themselves?

Answer: Some people never learn. The gun-grabblers have shown no slowdown. Sadly, it’s as if the U.S. were ever were invaded, these anti-gunners might roll raise out the welcome mat. It just goes to show you that these anti-2nd Amendment activists live in the comfort of a relatively safe nation that gives them the constitutional protection to act stupid.

  1. So, where can we ‘smart people’ get more information on safe firearm ownership?

Answer: SAF.org
