Republican Senator Pete Ricketts Just Shot Down the Bump Stock Ban – But Chuck Schumer Isn’t Done Yet

A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation explains how the fight is far from over for the potential ban.

Just a mere few days after the Supreme Court overturned the ban on bump stocks, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer swore that he would the bring the issue to the Senate, in an effort for them to enforce their own ban.

But then Republican Senator Pete Ricketts came long, singlehandedly killing the measure before it could take place. This was before Republicans could vote against what some believed was an “embarrassing” attempt to ban them.

But Schumer isn’t done yet. Him and his colleagues are still pushing to get a Senate-wide vote on the ban, now that it’s a no-go through Congress.

“I’m going to keep pushing this bill to get this done,” said Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, following Rickett’s block on the bill. “I’m going to keep working with anyone who wants to do this, to ban bump stocks in this country once and for all.”

So where will this go next? Joining us is a spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation, a group that firmly believes in every citizen’s right to keep and bear arms in the United States. Their expertise in all things gun laws make them a great subject for this interview. Welcome!

Q&A:

  1. Why are so many people in Washington so determined to ban bump stocks in the United States?
  2. For those unfamiliar, what exactly do bump stocks do? Are they as harmful as these politicians make them out to be?
  3. What’s the biggest concern here? That if a ban on bump stocks take place, that a ban on assault weapons could follow after? Give an inch, take a foot sort of scenario?
  4. Do you believe Schumer will effectively be able to bring the topic to the Senate for a vote? Or will it likely get shot down again?
  5. If the ban fails to take place, could there possibly be an appeal for President Biden to push for a ban himself? Or will it likely be put on the backburner?
  6. Will the topic of guns play an important part in the forthcoming Presidential debates?
  7. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation?
