Presidential Nominee Donald Trump Will Still Support Gun Rights, Despite the Attempt On His Life Last Week (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The “hero with a gun” and spokesman for Gun Owners of America explains why it’s more important than ever for private gun owners to keep their rights.

Even though he was nearly killed by an assassin’s bullet at a Pennsylvania rally last week, Presidential nominee Donald Trump hasn’t changed his mind in terms of where he stands on gun rights.

Chris LaCivita, who serves as a top advisor for Trump, explained at a recent Concealed Carry Association event that “we’ll see a continuation of supporting and defending the Second Amendment, and really where that comes into play is, you know, the judiciary.”

Several Republicans resounded with said statement, believing that better attention should be given to better mental health support, rather than an outright gun ban like so many Democrats – including current U.S. President Joe Biden – are looking for.

Will Boone, a delegate from Montana, added, “The right to have a gun is enshrined in the Constitution. Once you start infringing on that, you’ll start other rights being taken away.”

Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. You may recall Willeford being the “hero with a gun” with the Sutherland Springs situation in 2017, in which he’s co-authored a book. His expertise on gun rights make him an ideal interviewee for this subject.
