NY Survey Just “Sneaky Subpoena” (Guest: Jim Harden)

Based on the failure of former NY Attorney General Eliot Spitzer to subpoena Pregnancy Centers, NY Gov. Hochul has outsmarted herself by creating a survey with no enforcement.

The surveys were sent as part of an investigation authorized by the Pregnancy Center Investigation Act, “authorizes a study to examine unmet health and resource needs and impact of limited service pregnancy centers.” The bill defines “limited service” as an entity “whose primary purpose…is to provide services to clients who are or may be pregnant, that… fails to provide or refer…abortion care….”

Having described pro-life people as “Neanderthals” at the signing of the bill—mere days after CompassCare in Buffalo, NY was firebombed—Hochul has yet to release the names of the nine required commissioners assigned to the investigation.

Early in July of 2022, the Charlotte Lozier Institute released a Pregnancy Center State Impact Report for New York. It shows that in 2019, eighty-four pregnancy centers served over 26,000 people giving away nearly four million dollars’ worth of medical care and support.

CompassCare CEO Jim Harden said, “Abortionists only provide abortion. It appears that Gov. Hochul and the legislature need look no further than pregnancy centers to find out who is actually providing for the unmet health and resource needs of women facing unplanned pregnancy.”

Rev. Harden noted, “Abortion is not medicine. Abortion is quackery. The reason the original Hippocratic Oath says, ‘I will not give a woman an abortive remedy’ is because abortion represents the opposite of the purpose of medicine, to heal and maintain the health of the patient. Abortion does neither one of those things for either the mother or the baby.”

“While Gov. Hochul, the legislature, and New York AG James vilify and demonize pro-life people and pregnancy centers, these groups have never violated any laws, injured any women, killed anyone, engaged in medical malpractice, nor have been sued or convicted of any crimes that we are aware of,” Rev. Harden continued. “Compare that to New York’s private practice abortion industry. A recent expose revealed private practice abortion clinics in NY have literally killed ‘at least 38 women and girls as young as 13.’ This does not even consider the serial malpractice of abortionists that harm 16-year-old rape victims with chemical abortion.”

Rev. Harden joins us now to discuss the matter further.
