Mother Cut Off At Colorado School Board Meeting Leaving Questions As To What Kids Can Read In Schools

According to Epoch Times, A Colorado mother was cut off at her local school board meeting while reading aloud a graphic passage from a book that is available at the school district.

The school board decided the mother was “out of order” and demanded she stop reading.

The mother protested and said, “This is what you allow in our schools. This is what you allow for our kids to have access to. This is pornography and this is grooming for pedophilia.”

Joining us now to discuss the controversy around explicit books available to students is Sheri Few, who serves as founder and president of the United States Parents Involved In Education (USPIE for short). Sheri also serves as Executive Producer of the new film documentary Truth and Lies In American Education. The film is available for viewing on the film’s website: www.truthandliesfilm.us. Also available on the film’s website is a 3-minute teaser trailer, and here is a 50-second trailer for television audiences.

Q&A

  1. Was the school board right in cutting off the mother from reading a sexually explicit passage? Or should she have been permitted to make her point?
  2. In the face of some schools trying to teach Critical Race Theory and other controversial topics, what do you think about the availability of such reading material to children?
  3. We’ve seen examples of people banning – and even burning – books before. What are your thoughts on the availability of such books? Is it okay to offer them elsewhere outside of schools?
  4. If not through literature, what is the best way to teach children about such subject matter – if it should be taught at all?
  5. Your documentary Truth and Lies In American Education tackles theses topic and more. Where can we learn more about it?

Answer: The film just came out for streaming, and you can visit www.truthandliesfilm.us to view the film. Also, our website www.uspie.org has downloadable resources to help parents advocate for their children and fight against indoctrination.
