Kamala Harris’ Advocation For the Removal of School Resource Officers Has Proven To Be a Mistake

A spokesman for the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) explains how badly Harris’ decision could reflect – especially in the face of the Georgia school shooting.

The shooting that took place at the Apalachee High School in Georgia this week has left the country reeling. But what’s even scarier is how some officials are trying to take away from safety precautions in such institutions – including Presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

Back in 2019, Harris advocated for the removal of school resource officers, believing it was best to “demilitarize” school campuses. But it appears she hasn’t spoken on this policy since a resource officer was able to detain the accused shooter in the Georgia incident.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) congratulated the officers involved in the apprehension, and quickly made note of Harris’ past comments, hoping she’s since realized the value of said officers.

“Once again,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb in a statement, “a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun, demonstrating how wrong Kamala Harris was about the importance of armed school resource officers, who literally saved lives in Georgia. It’s just one of many things, especially relating to firearms and crime intervention, she’s been wrong about during her political career.”

The CCRKBA also made note of a policy Harris backed years ago involving “compensated confiscation” of privately-owned modern rifles, which she believed would be a safety measure. However, a report from the FBI revealed that such rifles are used in only three to four percent of all gun-related homicides.

“Kamala Harris, like every other anti-gun-rights Democrat, is only interested a sensational headline and a media soundbite,” Gottlieb noted. “It may sound good on television, but in reality, banning guns will accomplish nothing, and removing armed school resource officers would—as we saw Wednesday—accomplish less than nothing by making schools and our children more vulnerable.

“Kamala Harris was wrong about removing armed school resource officers,” he concluded. “It’s time for the media to end its love fest with the vice president and start looking at what else she’s been wrong about.”

A spokesman for the CCRKBA joins us now to discuss the matter further.

Q&A:

  1. What are your thoughts on what happened in Georgia, and how quickly officers reacted in stopping the shooter?
  2. Do you believe Harris is “eating her words” about the statement she made regarding school resource officers? Does she suddenly now realize their value?
  3. What about this “compensated confiscation” program with rifles? Why would she try to instate that? Are people truly that concerned about violence, even if rifles aren’t the main weapons used?
  4. What does this say about Harris’ strength as a Presidential nominee? Could her beliefs in gun rights cause harm to private gun owners within this country?
  5. Where can people call in to pledge their support to the CCRKBA?
    1. The number to support the group is (800) 699-0992.
  6. Where can we learn more about the CCRKBA and its members?
