The jury in the Hunter Biden trial found him guilty on all three counts — making a false statement in connection with the sale of a firearm, a false statement in a firearms transaction, and possessing a firearm while being a drug user or drug addict. It took the jurors just three hours of deliberating.
He could face up to 25 years in prison, though it is unlikely for Hunter since he is a first-time offender. The media treated this trial much differently than the trial of former president Donald Trump right before this. And they continued to take shots at Trump. The Associated Press story on the conviction of Hunter Biden included this line: “But while Trump has continued to falsely claim the verdict was ‘rigged,’ Joe Biden has said he would accept the results of the verdict and would not seek to pardon his son.”
Steve Strang, CEO of Charisma Media and author of Trump Aftershock: The President’s Seismic Impact on Faith and Culture, looks at conclusion of this high-profile trial.
Welcome, Steve.
Q&A:
1. The jury deliberated just three hours. What does that say to you?
2. Did you expect this verdict?
3. Do you suspect Hunter Biden will spend time in prison?
4. Although President Joe Biden said he would not pardon his son, do you believe him?
5. If Joe Biden does pardon Hunter, does he wait until after the election, forcing Hunter to spend time in jail?
6. The media clearly treated this trial much differently than that of Donald Trump. For example, some of the stories noted the Bidens prayed before the trial as opposed to the many references to Trump scowling. Why did they do that?
7. You interviewed Trump for your book Trump Aftershock. Did you find him as menacing as the media make him out to be?
8. These trials were back-to-back. Both led to felony convictions. Other than that, are there any similarities?
9. Tell us about your book, “Trump Aftershock,” and where we may pick up a copy.
