Joe Biden Continues To Push For an Assault Weapons Ban, and It’s a Sign of Concern For Private Gun Owners Everywhere (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

President Joe Biden has been pushing for a full-on ban of assault weapons for several weeks now – and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

During a recent multi-state push heading into the Labor Day weekend, Biden made it clear that a ban is the answer. “I’m determined to ban assault weapons in this country,” he noted. “I did it once before and we will do it again.”

He also noted, “If we elect more Democrats to the Senate and keep the House Democratic, imagine the possibilities. We’ll ban assault weapons, saving countless lives.”

That said, there is a sign of concern from private gun owners, as well as gun manufacturers, focusing on Biden’s hellbent decision for an outright ban instead of looking at alternate solutions.

Here today to talk to us about this is Stephen Willeford. Not only is he a gun owner, but Stephen also serves as a spokesman for Gun Owners of America. You may also recall in 2017 how he stopped the Sutherland Springs, Texas mass shooting, acting as the “good guy with a gun.” His expertise is certainly welcome with this particular subject.

Q&A:

  1. Speaking as a private gun owner and advocate, does President Joe Biden’s call for a full-on assault weapons ban seem a bit extreme?
  2. Why do you think he’s not looking at alternate solutions for active shooter events, such as the rise in concealed-carry citizens? We’ve seen stories where they seem to be making more of a difference.
  3. You’ve spoken in the past how a ban on assault weapons isn’t a definitive answer, since most people would be able to get their hands on such weapons anyway. Do you still believe this is the case? Could things get worse if an actual ban was implemented?
  4. Biden’s gun ban might earn him points with his followers, but do you think this could have an effect on his Democratic supporters in the House headed into the polls this fall?
  5. If you had the opportunity to draft a resolution to countering active shooter events, what steps would you take? Is concealed-carry a solution worth expanding upon?
  6. How could a potential ban affect gun makers, such as Smith & Wesson? We’ve already seen that a few needed to relocate to more supportive states due to state-driven bans.
  7. Where can we learn more about you, as well as the Gun Owners of America?

Stephen represents the Gun Owners of America and is known around the country as the “good guy with the gun” for helping stop the largest Texas mass shooting in the history of the state in 2017. He is available to speak about all 2nd Amendment issues, as well as the importance of the Gun Owners of America. You can read more about him at http://www.stephenwilleford.com.
