While there was no immediate official Israeli government reaction to the helicopter death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, MK Avigdor Liberman, chair of the opposition Yisrael Beytenu party, said “we won’t shed a tear” over his death. He called Raisi “a brutal man.” Raisi was seen as a potential successor to Khamenei.
Meanwhile, an unnamed Israeli official told Reuters Israel played no role in the helicopter crash. In the recent past, Raisi praised the leaders of the terror group Hamas who attacked Israel and started this war.
