Is the FBI Pressuring People To Give Up Their Second Amendment Rights? (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The Federal Bureau of Investigation – or FBI, as they’re known – have come under fire as of late, particularly with their raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate a few weeks ago. But now, based on a new report from Daily Caller, they could be taking part in far more sinister actions.

According to the report, the FBI secretly provided forms to Americans between the years of 2016 and 2019, making them “voluntarily” surrender their rights to own, buy or even use firearms. These forms were released by the Gun Owners of America, and bring up some legal questions as a result.

Robert Olson, who serves as the Gun Owners of America’s legal counsel, noted, “We’re into a pre-crime, Minority Report type of world where the FBI believes it can take constitutional rights away from anyone it thinks might possibly pose a threat in the future. Which certainly is not something you expect in the United States.”

Those who signed the form would be registered within the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System, essentially barring them from being able to “purchase, to possess and to use any firearm.” While there’s no word how effective these forms have been with investigations, the idea of their existence is a deep concern, particularly to private gun owners.

Here now to speak on the matter is Stephen Willeford. Not only is he a gun owner, but he also serves as a spokesman for Gun Owners of America. You may also recall in 2017 how he stopped the Sutherland Springs, Texas mass shooting, acting as the “good guy with a gun.” His expertise is certainly welcome with this particular subject.

Q&A:

  1. While some are questioning the validity of this report, do you believe that the FBI would take these steps in an effort to “lock down” on certain gun owners within this country?
  2. What do you think motivated the FBI to take these potential steps? Concern over the growing rate of active shooter events? Or something else?
  3. Between the group’s raid on the Mar-a-Lago estate weeks ago and other reported activities, how concerned do you believe gun owners should be with the FBI’s reported actions?
  4. The Gun Owners of America currently have a lawsuit pending against the FBI for their actions against private gun owners. Have they even responded to the matter?
  5. Apparently the form has since been discontinued. Do you believe the FBI just didn’t find it effective enough, or do you believe they’re just trying to cover their tracks over a possible mistake?
  6. As a gun owner yourself, what recommendations would you have for fellow gun owners when it comes to a matter such as this?
  7. Tell us more about the Gun Owners of America, and why you currently serve as a spokesperson for the group. Does your experience being the “good guy with a gun” tie in with this?
  8. Where can we learn more about you as well as the Gun Owners of America?

Stephen represents the Gun Owners of America and is known around the country as the “good guy with the gun” for helping stop the largest Texas mass shooting in the history of the state in 2017. He is available to speak about all 2nd Amendment issues, as well as the importance of the Gun Owners of America. You can read more about him at http://www.stephenwilleford.com.
