Is Oregon’s Menstrual Dignity Act Taking Things a Step Too Far When It Comes To Feminine Product Placement? (Guest: Sheri Few)

With the passing of its Menstrual Dignity Act, the state of Oregon is looking to put the minds of specific groups at ease. However, a recent move for its public schools have parents up in arms.

Under the ruling of the act by Democratic Governor Kate Brown, schools will now be required to provide feminine products – along with instructions on how to use them – in all K-12 bathrooms. This includes both male and female restrooms. The ordinance is set to kick off later this fall with the new school year.

It’s meant to be a statement about growth and development, but it has several parents and politicians up in arms. Gubernational candidate Bridget Barton recently spoke to Fox News on the matter, stating, “Clearly Brown cares more about what’s going on in the bathrooms than what’s going on in the classrooms.”

Joining us now to discuss this controversy is Sheri Few, who serves as founder and president of the United States Parents Involved In Education (USPIE for short). She also serves as Executive Producer of the film Truth and Lies In American Education, a new documentary available now at the film’s website, www.truthandliesfilm.us.

  1. Do you believe parents are in the right for what is happening in the bathrooms of their children’s school?
  2. What do you believe bothers parents and politicians the most about this? Do you think this has potential ties with how certain subjects, such as Critical Race Theory, are being taught in schools?
  3. Do you believe the Menstrual Dignity Act could lead to further changes in Oregon schools in the years ahead?
  4. Some experts believe that “gender-affirming bathroom access” can support student safety within the school. What are your thoughts on this?
  5. Your documentary Truth and Lies In American Education tackles topics such as these. Where can we learn more about it?

Answer: Our website is USPIE.org, and we have downloadable resources to help parents advocate for their children and fight against the indoctrination of their children. The film just came out for streaming, and you can visit https://TruthAndLiesFilm.us/ for information on how to watch it.
