Is AOC Right that Trump’s ‘Shifty Schiff’ Comment was Anti-Semitic?

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has launched a scathing attack on President Trump, calling the president’s criticism of Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) “deliberate, targeted anti-Semitism” and evidence of “white supremacism”. This, after Trump labeled the Jewish chairman of the House Intelligence Committee ‘Shifty Schiff’, alluding to what Trump calls Schiff’s “dishonest, shifty” behavior in pushing forward the House impeachment inquiry.

Does Trump’s criticism of impeachment honchos who happen to be Jewish, like Schiff and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) reveal an anti-Jewish bias? For the answer and an honest discussion of this explosive topic, let’s go to Jerusalem to former Israeli mayor David Rubin, author of Trump and the Jews, who has some special insights on this topic.

Suggested Q&A:

  1. So, Mr. Mayor, is President Trump anti-Semitic? Absolutely not. In fact, the opposite is true. President Trump is the greatest friend the Jewish people have ever seen in the White House and has proven that by his bold steps to strengthen the US-Israel relationship.
  2. As an Israeli who was born and raised in the US, you are very sensitive to the dangers of anti-Semitism. What do you say to those who argue that calling Adam Schiff “Shifty Schiff” is evidence of anti-Semitism? When discussing a charge as serious as anti-Semitism, it would be best if Congresswoman Orcasio-Cortez would stick to the facts. It is very dishonest of Schiff to push ahead with impeachment charges against Trump, just because of his mention of Joe Biden’s alleged corruption in a phone conversation with the Ukrainian president, while ignoring the fact that Biden as vice-president seems to have done far worse and then bragged about it publicly.
  3. How do you respond to the real anti-Semites? Is the fact that Schiff and Nadler are so anti-Trump related somehow to their Jewishness? No, but it is related to their devotion to their substitute religion, which is knee-jerk liberalism. Unlike those two individuals, who “just happen to be Jewish”, the many American and Israeli Jews that strongly identify with their Judaism greatly appreciate a president who recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, who recognized the strategic Golan Heights as Israeli territory, and who has cracked down on enemies of Israel like Iran and the PLO.
  4. Is Rep. Ocasio-Cortez being disingenuous when she charges the president with anti-Jewish bias? AOC is a shrewd politician, but her propensity for exploiting Jewish history, despite her ignorance of it, is appalling. Her passion for distorting the Holocaust to score points against Trump is especially disturbing.
  5. Where can people get a copy of your book, “Trump and the Jews”? Just go to Amazon.com and type in the words, “Trump and the Jews”.
