Intro: Heros come in many sizes, races, and genders. Sometimes heroes even come in the form of a… Police officer! Such is the case with a law enforcement officer in Lakewood, Colorado. Agent Ashley Farris was able to stop an active shooter, even after she was seriously injured herself. The assailant had already killed five people. There’s no way of knowing how many more he would have gunned down had it not been for the heroic actions of Officer Ashley Farris. 1) Lakewood Police Department (LPD) Agent Ashley Farris has been deemed a hero for her heroic actions in killing an active shooter despite being shot herself…..what happened that day?
A.) On December 27th, 2021, an active shooter went on a rampage in Denver, Colorado killing six people and injuring multiple others in various locations. Officer Farris confronted the shooter, who shot her in the abdomen. She returned fire, killing the shooter.
2) Would an Active Shooter vest have made a difference in the case of Officer Farris?
A.) A properly fitted Active Shooter Vest would have stopped an Abdominal shot.
3) Were her actions justified?
A.) She eliminated a threat to herself, her fellow officers, and the citizens in the community. Her actions were both justified and heroic.
