The Second Amendment Foundation is applauding Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s decision to recognize that gun dealers are essential to public safety and has updated the list of life-sustaining businesses to allow Keystone State gun owners to exercise their fundamental constitutional rights.
Weighing in on this dramatic change of heart is Alan Gottlieb, the chief litigant and founder of the Second Amendment Foundation.
Q&A:
- What do you make of Pennsylvania governor’s flip-flop in positions?
Answer: “Gov. Wolf’s change of heart is a welcome display of good sense and constitutional adherence. Perhaps some other state governors could take a lesson from Wolf as they issue so-called ‘stay-at-home’ orders.
- Do you have any other lawsuits over states thwarting the right to bear arms?
Answer: We are also working on lawsuits against Washington, Massachusetts and jurisdictions in California and North Carolina, among others.
- It seems like just yesterday that the state of Virginia was bent on disarming virtually everyone. Why the change now?
Answer: We are witnessing what amounts to an epiphany for many Americans during this crisis, as they remember what the Second Amendment is about. Those who think suspending a constitutional right is acceptable because a virus is a health threat are truly mixing the proverbial apples and oranges to suit their own agendas. Disarming gun-owners is akin to disarming doctors and forbidding them to use ‘violent’ antibiotics over germs.
- Why is it so important that 2nd amendment rights never be infringed, for any duration of time, not even during a state of emergency?
Answer: #2 in the Bill of Rights, our wise founders said the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. They include no fine print in that statement since they know theh citizens of our nation need protectdion against those who mean us hear, outside and inside of government.

ABOUT STEPHEN WILLEFORD (In Central Time):
A native of Sutherland Springs, Texas, Stephen Willeford was raised in a family of five on a dairy farm near the First Baptist Church. He is the fourth generation to live on a few hundred acres of land in Wilson County.
Stephen has always relied on his faith to guide his life, and his deep roots in Sutherland Springs are a product of his family’s commitment to their community. An avid sportsman, Stephen began shooting at a young age and honed his shooting skills by participating in shooting competitions as he grew older. He made sure his three children were trained in gun safety, passing along his expertise.

An experienced professional plumber, Stephen earned his license from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship School in San Antonio and has nearly 35 years of experience in his field. He is a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), was an NRA-certified instructor and a former assistant scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. Stephen has been married to Pam Farmer Willeford for 30 years and has three children and three grandchildren.
