Epoch TV Documentary Gender Transformation: The Untold Realities Scores Best POV Documentary Award At the Manhattan Film Festival

Producer and director Tobias Elvhage discusses the honor, as well as being selected for the IndieFEST Film Awards and Accolade Global Film Competition.

Ever since its premiere on Epoch TV last month, Gender Transformation: The Untold Realities has been getting a lot of attention. And now, the film, which follows the journey of several transgender people in their youth, is getting some proper recognition.

The groundbreaking documentary has earned the award for Best POV Documentary at the Manhattan Film Festival 2023, based on its exceptional storytelling, impactful message and outstanding contribution to the world of cinema. On top of that, it’s also been chosen as an official selection for The IndieFEST Film Awards and Accolade Global Film Competition.

“We are honored and deeply humbled to receive this esteemed award,” said Tobias Elvhage, producer, director, and writer of the film. “Creating this documentary was a labor of compassion for those who were brave enough to share their truths about what is happening to our youth, and we are thrilled to see the film’s message resonate with audiences worldwide.”

Through its heartfelt storytelling, the film explores the themes of transgenderism, at a time when it’s come under fire by a number of conservative groups and online critics. But it also dives deeper into the involvement of the educational system, the medical and pharmaceutical industries, and the societal and political mechanisms involved.

Elvhage joins us now to discuss the film further, as well as the recognition that comes from these awards.
