Congressional Trip To Texas Leaves Questions About Where They Stand On Border Safety – And Why That Could Be a Problem (Guest: Michael Letts)

Following a recent report on the Department of Homeland Security setting up to pass judgment on border patrol agents accused of “whipping” detainees, a group of Democrats and Republicans recently paid a visit down to southern Texas to get a look at how it was going themselves. As part of the House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness In Growth, they were looking for more answers.

However, it created a bit of disparity between the groups, who differed on opinion when it came to the conditions at the border. “It is lawlessness and the chaos is burning out of control,” Republican representative Joey Arrington noted during the visit, speaking to Fox News.

He added, “We’re here at the epicenter of the worst national security crisis and the most immediate threat to the American people,” Arrington said. “So whether they are on this tour with us or they would feel more comfortable being on a tour by themselves or doing something related to the issue that’s affecting the security and safety of the American people more than any single thing. Where is that tour? Where are those events?”

Here to speak to us now about the rough conditions on our borders is Michael Letts. He is a pro-police advocate who serves as founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers across the country, through charitable foundations and sponsorships. His insight will provide a little more weight surrounding this matter.

Q&A:

  1. Judging by the DHS’ recent implied actions towards border agents and this recent report, how bad do you think things are with conditions down there right now?
  2. What do you think is the biggest problem getting in the way of the Border Patrol doing their job? Lack of funding by the government? Lack of support? Both, perhaps?
  3. What do you think it will take for everyone to get on the same page when it comes to attaining safety at our borders?
  4. Last month, a judge blocked the Biden administration from lifting Title 42, which could change border conditions drastically. Do you believe he’ll continue his efforts to get it lifted? And what do you think this will do for Border Patrol agents?
  5. Have you met with any Border Patrol agents in the past? What are your thoughts on what they’re currently going through, and how people can help them?
  6. Where can we learn more about InVest USA?
  7. You can visit the official website at http://www.investusa.org.
