California Liquor Store Owner Stopping a Robbery Shows the Latest Example of the Effectiveness of Armed Citizens (Guest: Second Amendment)

A recent foiling of a robbery of a California liquor store may be paving the way for showing how effective armed citizens can be fighting back against crime.

The owner, Craig Cope, fought back against a group of four would-be robbers invading his store, firing back upon them, and sending them running. One was even heard screaming, “He shot my arm off!” as the criminals sped away.

Many are considering Craig as a hero, fighting back against armed assailants. And like Elisjsha Dicken before him – who took down a mass shooter at a shopping mall in Greenwood, Indiana last month – he shows an example of how armed citizens are effective against criminals.

In the face of potential assault rifle bans and similar initiatives, some believe this incident goes a long way into talking about the importance of concealed-carry. To discuss this in further detail, we welcome a spokesperson from the 2nd Amendment Foundation to provide their perspective on the matter.

Q&A:

  1. What do you think about Cope’s actions against the criminals that attempted to rob his store? Looks like some people have said, “Enough is enough” when it comes to criminals like this.
  2. Do you believe this incident makes a stable argument for concealed-carry? Some states have already adapted to this rule, but could others give it consideration following this? Obviously, some states, like California, would be a tough sell.
  3. You believe concealed-carry would be far more effective than an assault weapons ban. Based upon what we’ve seen from the foiling of the Indiana active shooter event and this recent failed robbery, do you feel stronger about this?
  4. The State Department of Licensing recently told AmmoLand News that concealed carry license issuance was on the rise, reaching over 600,000 monthly. Do you see this continuing to rise in the months ahead, at least in the states where it’s allowed?
  5. Do you think this incident will have any effectiveness towards Biden’s insistence towards banning assault weapons?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation and its members?
