Another Deadly Ambush Has Taken the Life of a Young Police Officer In Minneapolis (Guest: Michael Letts)

The law enforcement veteran believes enough is enough when it comes to the death of these young police officers.

Another terrifying ambush has taken place in Minneapolis, resulting in the death of a young police officer.

Police officer Jamal Mitchell, who was a father previously engaged to be married, was “ambushed” and killed by a gunman that he had attempted to help, according to reports. The suspect was later shot by police, and a third body was located in a nearby apartment.

Gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and fellow officers, resulting in several other injuries, most of which weren’t life-threatening.

Many are left wondering about the incident, and why someone that the officer was trying to help would take his life as a result.

“Today is a devastating day in the city of Minneapolis,” said Mayor Jacob Frey in a news conference. “What I can tell you is that Officer Mitchell was attempting to assist the individual that shot him – and that it happened very fast and that he ambushed him.”

This is the latest incident in which an officer who hadn’t even been on the force that long was ambushed and killed by someone with a clear plan – but it leaves a question as to when, or if, it will end.

Joining us now to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships.

His expertise in all things law and order make him a great guest for this interview. Welcome, Michael.

Q&A:

  1. We’re starting to see more of this disturbing trend in which young police officers are ambushed and killed by gunmen. Why do you think this has been picking up as of late?
  2. Do some people still see police officers as “enemies,” especially after everything that happened with George Floyd and the “defund the police” movement?
  3. Have key politicians and media types been taking part in giving the police a bad image? Why would they do this?
  4. Is there a resolution to this matter at all? Should officers have more back-up when it comes to situations such as these? Or is there a clear solution at all?
  5. You’re the creator of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. Tell us more about that, and why support for fellow officers is so important right now.
  6. We understand that InVest USA is looking to donate a number of Active Shooter Vests to this particular department. Is that correct?
  7. Where can we learn more about InVest USA, and how those interested can help their fellow officers.
  8. You can visit our official InVest USA website, and learn more on the official Invest USA Twitter account. You can also learn about my new initiative at RestoringJustice.US, where we discuss lawful issues surrounding citizens of the United States.
