Americans Are Rejecting President Biden’s Mandates For Electric Cars

The Epoch Times’ Kevin Stocklin explains why they’re not fond of the “unrealistic government electric vehicle mandate.”

President Joe Biden’s vision for net-zero central planning initiatives seems to be meeting resistance from everyday Americans.

In a new report filed by The Epoch Times’ senior investigative reporter Kevin Stocklin, many U.S. citizens aren’t buying into electric vehicles, despite the offering of government subsidies and mandates.

Recently, more than 3,800 auto dealers have written up a letter, telling Biden to stop forcing EVs on American consumers, who don’t want them. “Last year, there was a lot of hope and hype about EVs [and] early adopters formed an initial line and were ready to buy these vehicles as soon as we had them to sell,” they wrote. “But that enthusiasm has stalled.

“Today, the supply of unsold BEVs [battery electric vehicles] is surging, as they are not selling nearly as fast as they are arriving at our dealerships—even with deep price cuts, manufacturer incentives, and generous government incentives.”

They concluded, “Mr. President, it is time to tap the brakes on the unrealistic government electric vehicle mandate.”

A Tennessee car dealer noted about government mandates and subsidies: “There are 50 reasons not to buy an EV and only one to produce EVs. That’s pretty bad odds, wouldn’t you agree?”

Stocklin joins us now to discuss the article further.

Q&A:

  1. Why aren’t more consumers buying EVs?
  2. The big carmakers are losing billions on their line of EVs, but Tesla seems to be thriving. Are low EV sales more of a failure by gas-powered carmakers to make good electric cars?
  3. In what ways is the government forcing the EV transition on Americans?
  4. Could Biden try to push his initiative even further if he’s given a second Presidency term next year?
  5. Even if Biden does introduce more initiatives and discounts, do you see more auto dealers sticking with traditional vehicles?
  6. What effect is all of Biden’s initiatives to electrify transportation, together with electric stoves and home heating, having on America’s electric grid?
