The credit expert discusses a new report about people running into trouble with finding employment – despite Biden’s claims about a growing economy.
In the past, President Joe Biden has noted how the job market has grown over the past year, in the face of a stifling economy. However, report numbers seem to say something much different.
According to a report from CNN, the latest numbers from the Department of Labor indicate that Americans receiving jobless benefits for multiple weeks has reached its highest level since November 2021. It has now reached 1.839 million, following many companies laying off employees and shuttering retail locations and online portals.
Ian Shepherdson, who serves as chief economist for Pantheon Macroeconomics, noted he we’re likely to see a significant drop in job growth over the months ahead – which means the number could potentially grow over two million well before the end of 2024.
This news comes just weeks after Biden noted that “unemployment has been at or below 4 percent for 30 months – the longest stretch in 50 years.” But his numbers don’t seem to be revealing everything.
