CompassCare CEO Jim Harden addresses the likelihood of the Abortion Pill becoming illegal.
Woes are mounting for pro-abortion forces. First it was the reversal of Roe vs. Wade. Now Axios reports that the abortion pill might be next on the chopping block. 22 Republican state attorneys general filed a brief this week to block the FDA’s approval of mifepristone. If successful, this would result in ban in all 50 states, according to abortion advocates.
Harden (or CompassCare Director of Community Relations Daniel Tomlinson) joins us now to speak further on this matter.
Q&A:
- Tell us about this new development in pushing back abortion.
Answer: The case was brought forth by Republican attorney generals in 22 states and filed in Amarillo, Texas district court to block the Food and Drug Administration’s milestone approval of the abortion pill mifepristone.
- Slightly less than half of the states filed briefs so what does this do on a national level since pills can easily be mailed across state lines?
Answer: This is precisely the challenge. Some states have done an end run around Roe Vs. Wade, while others continue maintain a ban on abortions. There will likely be a lot of trafficking of the abortion pill as long as it’s available even in one state. Therefore, the FDA needs to ban it from all 50 states.
- This proposed ban on the abortion pill is the biggest pro-life push by Republicans since overturning Roe, is it not?
Answer: Yes, it is, and it’s a vital battle than needs to be won to save the lives of innocent babies, the future of our nation. Where would we be if we aborted all babies? We’d have no population and no nation. Abortion advocates need to be reminded of that, and reminded that had their mothers taken the same stand they are taking, they wouldn’t even be alive today.
- If the abortion pill is banned, are we likely see more violence from Jane’s Revenge and other pro-abortion advocates in the months ahead?
- For those that are interested in supporting CompassCare and learning more about the services they provide, where can they go?
