A Texas School Is Taking a Closer Look At a Controversial Proposal Surrounding Critical Race Theory and Sexual Ideology — Could Other Schools Follow? (Guest: Sheri Few)

There has been a lot of talk as of late about governments cracking down on schools teaching gender identity, sexual orientation, and Critical Race Theory. This week, the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District in Dallas, Texas is about to take a look at a controversial measure to limit these topics being taught.

The school is ready to implement a policy labeling any material addressing human sexuality as “potentially pornographic.” Not only that, but employees attempting to overcome prohibitions on such a subject could face punishment – possibly even termination – from it.

Though the policy hasn’t been implemented just yet, the school board is hearing from both sides of the controversy and will reportedly speak to a committee of trustees, administrators and lawyers before a final decision is made.

Joining us now to discuss the matter is Sheri Few, who serves as founder and president of the U.S. Parents Involved In Education (USPIE for short). She also serves as Executive Producer of the film Truth and Lies In American Education, a new documentary available now at the film’s website www.truthandliesfilm.us.

  1. Do you think the label “potentially pornographic” is too much for sex education materials, or is it a closer match than we may realize?
  2. There seems to be a great deal of opposition against the policy. Is this mainly due to freedom of speech, or some believing that children should be taught this subject?
  3. What’s the best way for children to learn about subjects like this, you think? Directly from parents?
  4. If the policy finds success, could we see other schools and institutions follow suit?
  5. Your documentary Truth and Lies In American Education tackles these topics. Where can we learn more about it?

Answer: Our website is USPIE.org, and we have downloadable resources to help parents advocate fortheir children and fight against the indoctrination of their children. The film has just been released.
