A Federal Judge Has Stopped Joe Biden and the ATF From Unfairly Expanding Gun Background Checks (Guest: Stephen Willeford)

The spokesman for the Gun Owners of America explains why this is such a big win for private gun owners.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), alongside the Biden Administration, are always trying to find new ways to put limitations on guns. But that doesn’t mean that everyone necessarily agrees with them.

Yesterday, a federal judge put a block on a rule enforced by the ATF and Biden Administration, one that called for background checks on firearms purchases. Attorney General Merrick Garland previously announced the rule following the Uvalde tragedy.

United States District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk of the Northern District of Texas issued the restraining order, noting that it was unfairly put in place.

“President Biden and his anti-gun administration have aggressively pursued an agenda meant to harass, intimidate, and criminalize gun owners and dealers at every turn,” Gun Owners of America Senior Vice President Erich Pratt said. “This ruling is a compelling rebuke of their tyrannical and unconstitutional actions that purposely misinterpreted federal law to ensure their preferred policy outcome.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton added, “I am relieved that we were able to secure a restraining order that will prevent this illegal rule from taking effect. The Biden Administration cannot unilaterally overturn Americans’ constitutional rights and nullify the Second Amendment.”

That said, the battle is far from over, as the ATF and Biden Administration are likely to push back. But a win’s a win, at least for the moment.

Joining us now to discuss this further is Stephen Willeford, the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America. You may recall Willeford being the “hero with a gun” with the Sutherland Springs situation in 2017, in which he’s co-authored a book. His expertise on gun rights make him an ideal guest for this subject.
