At noon on Monday, June 13, instead of allocating state resources to investigate criminal arson attacks at CompassCare’s medical office in Buffalo, Governor Kathy Hochul signed a bill that investigates pro-life pregnancy centers. Far from denouncing the violence, Kathy Hochul’s first action in the face of CompassCare’s firebombing is to use tax-payer dollars to attack the victims instead of protecting them. The only reason for this nefarious bill is to vilify the benevolent services of Christian organizations that differ with official state abortion policy. The intended outcome of the bill is to identify ways to regulate Christian, pro-life services.
CompassCare CEO, Jim Harden, says, “After CompassCare’s firebombing in Buffalo, as far as we can tell, zero federal or state resources have been allocated to protect pro-life pregnancy centers. It appears Governor Hochul and the NY Legislature are only interested in protecting those who agree with them and bullying those who don’t.”
CompassCare and other pro-life pregnancy centers are providing for the unmet health and resource needs of women facing unplanned pregnancy. Harden goes on to say, “Instead of applauding this work, Hochul and the NY Legislature are robbing women by diverting precious resources away from them, all for a frivolous PR stunt. CompassCare has no intention of cooperating with this injustice.
