Israel has just designated some Palestinian rights groups as terrorists. In doing so, Israel was able to raid their offices and arrest their leaders.
This new designation of the six groups ratchets up the decades-long crackdown on violent activism in Samaria and Judea. Joining us in this discussion is David Rubin, former mayor of the ancient West Bank city of Shiloh, Israel.
Q&A:
- Mayor Rubin, what groups are now considered terrorist groups, and do they deserve the terrorist label?
- You were mayor of Shiloh, Israel. I know it has some distinctions dating back from antiquity. For one, wasn’t Shiloh the first capital of Israel?
- I understand you and your son had a severe encounter with terrorist groups. Tell us about that.
- Another issue that some Leftist groups are pushing is for America to open a Palestinian consulate in Jerusalem. What exactly are Palestinians, and why should the United States open a Palestinian consulate?
- You have a new book titled Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel. In it, you describe the dangers of the collaboration between the radical Left and radical Islam. Expand on that for us.
- You were born and raised in The United States but made Aliyah to Israel a few decades ago, where you witnessed the radicalization of various groups in Israel and the Middle East. Do you also so similar things going on in the United States?
- You run a charitable organization called Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund. Tell us about that and how we may help with your work.
David Rubin, former Mayor of Shiloh Israel, is the author of the new book, Confronting Radicals: What America Can Learn from Israel. Rubin is the founder and president of Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund, established after he and his then three-year-old son were wounded in a terror attack.
