Vaccinations, Politics, and Anti-Semitism

Vaccinations, Politics, and Anti-Semitism

Suggested intro: Over the weekend, “SNL” cast member Michael Che
came under fire for a joke he made during the “Weekend Update”
segment. “Israel is reporting that they’ve vaccinated half of their
population. I’m going to guess it’s the Jewish half,” Che said on the
long-running NBC show.
The audience laughed at the joke, but there have been charges of anti-
Semitism hurled at the network. Are the critics being over-sensitive?
Here to discuss this is David Rubin, former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel
and author of Trump and the Jews.
Suggested Questions:

  1. What is the problem with the joke? Before I answer that
question, it’s important to understand that we are taking about
Hollywood, not geographic Hollywood, but Hollywood
nonetheless, which has serious left-wing biases, and bias against
the Jewish nation of Israel has become part and parcel of the
    radical Left agenda.
  2. Understood, but isn’t it just comedy? Not when you are
accusing an entire nation of bigotry. To imply that Israel
wouldn’t enable vaccines for non-Jewish citizens, who by the
way are about 20%, not 50% of the population, is either based
on total ignorance, or is a vicious lie and I’m guessing that the
writers at SNL are not ignorant.
  3. Okay, so it’s anti-Israel, but is it really anti-Semitic, meaning
against all Jews? Anti-Israel, in most cases = anti-Semitic
because Israel is the only independent Jewish country, so when
such a blatant lie is told against Israel, it is almost always based
    on hatred of Jews.
  4. And is that the province of the Left? Aren’t there anti-Semites
on the Right? Hasn’t Trump been accused of pandering to anti-
Semites? The charges against Trump were always a not-so-

subtle use of the Freudian defense mechanism called projection.
There are neo-Nazis that are usually identified with the Right,
even though Hitler himself identified as a Socialist, but most of
the anti-Semitism today, often shielded in the guise of anti-
Zionism or anti-Israelism, comes the Left. Radical Left groups
like Antifa and Black Lives Matter are a haven for anti-Semites.
Just look at the vandalism of synagogues that occurred during
their riots and look at their doctrine of intersectionality, which
praises Palestinian terrorist organizations masquerading as
liberation movements while blasting Zionism, the genuine
liberation movement that led to the rebirth of the sovereign
Jewish nation in 1948.
