Rideshare Service With Armed Drivers Is Coming To Texas – And Should Expand Further

A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation explains why BlackWolf’s growing service will bring peace of mind and safety to its riders.

At a time when the security surrounding ridesharing comes into question – either from drivers or from passengers – BlackWolf wants to make it clear. Its riders will be safe with its drivers.

The company, which specializes in hiring armed drivers with a background in law enforcement and military, has announced that it is bringing its service to three major cities in Texas – Houston, Dallas, and Austin.

Founder Kerry KingBrown had good reasoning for putting the service together, speaking with Chron.

“The idea came from one of my clients that I was transporting; she was caught in human trafficking for about three years…she gave me the idea and said you need to create something, some type of transportation for people like me and my daughter,” KingBrown explained.

The service has already seen a huge boom on social media, and this will hopefully give it the push necessary to expand to other cities – providing additional security where needed for riders that require it.

“Those who are armed are licensed, they are vetted, and most of them are ex-military or law enforcement,” KingBrown added. “Those people understand how to carry a weapon. They’ve been trained with it.”

A spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation joins us now to discuss the effectiveness of the service, and why it should expand. We welcome them to the show!

Q&A:

  1. Why is a ride service like BlackWolf such a good idea these days? Mainly due to criminal acts surrounding certain Rideshare companies? Or the lack of security that comes from them?
  2. What do you think about KingBrown’s approach to recruiting drivers, making sure they’re properly trained in firearms before they join the company?
  3. Is this something that Uber and Lyft could possibly learn from? Especially considering the lawsuits they’ve seen over the years from violent acts surrounding riders?
  4. KingBrown also made it clear that their drivers are trained in “de-escalation.” Why is this such an important measure?
  5. We’re seeing BlackWolf make its way to Texas across three different cities. Where else do you think it should expand?
  6. Where can we learn more about the Second Amendment Foundation?
