The pastor and author discusses the recent decision, which some believe will have a devastating effect on Palestinians in Israel.
There has certainly been uneasiness between Israel and the United Nations over the past few months, as the former’s fight with Hezbollah and Iran continues on. But a new move by Israel’s parliament could shake up the landscape even further.
The parliament recently voted to ban a long-running United Nations agency from providing essential services for Palestinian refugees. As a result, Palestinians who live within Israel could soon see the effects from it.
The two bills passed include one that stops the UNRWA from doing anything in Israel, and the other preventing any contact whatsoever by Israeli authorities from talking with the group. This comes after a treaty was formed in 1967 that would allow them to provide services, with Israel’s consent.
Boaz Bismuth, who serves as a member of Likud, noted, “Anyone that behaves likes a terrorist has no rights in Israel…UNRWA equals Hamas, period.”
Of course, this has created a great deal of unrest within the United Nations, just as previous actions ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have done. But is there sound reasoning behind the decision, especially with some caregivers being injured over the course of certain attacks within the country?
Joining us now to discuss this further is Pastor Mark Biltz, an author and the founder and Senior Pastor of El Shaddai Ministries in Washington State. His experience should prove useful in this conversation. Welcome, Mark.
Q&A:
- What do you think about Israel’s decision to cut of UNRWA services and contact?
- What do you think the United Nations could do in retaliation to the move?
- Would you say that Israel was just in blocking the UNRWA? And, for that matter, Bismuth noting that “UNRWA equals Hamas”?
- What kind of effect could this have with the ongoing fight between Israel and Hezbollah/Iran? Will the situation get worse before it gets better?
- You discuss something called the Tribulation quite often. Tell us more about it, and when you think it might take place.
- We understand we can see your sermons live online. Where can those interested go for further information?
