A Gun Owners of America spokesman explains why the two bills up for consideration this week pose a threat to the rights of gun owners.
Democrats continue to do whatever they see fit when it comes to affecting the rights of private gun owners. And this is especially true in Pennsylvania.
A handful of State Senate Democrats have put a discharge resolution in place that looks to force a vote on Universal Registration Checks and Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders for the state. The vote is set to take place later this week.
The two bills that are up for consideration are:
- HB 714 – This bill would outlaw the private sale of long guns unless you get government permission first. It would also set up a registry in Pennsylvania for all firearms transactions, just like there is for handguns presently.
- HB 1018 – This bill created Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders, allowing “ex parte” star chamber proceedings where only one party presents evidence before a judge with no right to face the accuser until AFTER firearms are seized through an order by a pliant judge.
No doubt these would be a huge violation to those that are private gun owners or sellers. And that puts their Second Amendment rights at risk.
A spokesman for the Gun Owners of America joins us now to discuss the matter further.
Sam Parades is available to speak on this subject, serving as Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America.
Stephen Willeford, the 2017 “hero with a gun” who serves as the spokesman for the Gun Owners of America, is also available.
Q&A:
- Why do Democrats continue to try and find ways to limit the rights of private gun owners, despite protection provided by the Second Amendment?
- Could forcing a vote on the two bills in question somehow end up getting them passed? If so, will lawsuits follow with the Second Amendment being used in defense?
- Tell us more about “long guns” and what makes them so important to private gun owners.
- What is the danger imposed by Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders?
- You’ve often noted how Constitutional-Carry (or Concealed-Carry as some call it) can actually make streets safer during times of crisis. Explain this further.
- FOR STEPHEN: You recently wrote a book called A Town Called Sutherland Springs: Faith and Heroism Through Tragedy, revolving around your 2017 “hero with a gun” situation. Tell us more about how this came together, and why it’s such an important read right now.
- FOR STEPHEN: Where can people find your book?
- Where can we learn more about you, as well as Gun Owners of America?
