The law enforcement veteran discusses a new report where the Secret Service failed to fulfill several requests by the Republican nominee.
There’s a lot of discussion about how the Secret Service failed to keep former President Donald Trump safe during last week’s fateful rally stop in Pennsylvania. But apparently their ignorance goes deeper than that.
A report has surfaced over the weekend suggesting that top officials have denied various requests by Trump’s team for additional security detail, noting how it was relying on “state or local partners” to fill in the gaps instead.
The report notes that the officials for the Secret Service “repeatedly” denied such requests, though no reason was given.
The group did acknowledge the report, stating that is “has a vast, dynamic and intricate mission” in protecting people.
“Every day we work in a dynamic threat environment to ensure our protectees are safe and secure across multiple events, travel, and other challenging environments,” the group noted. “We execute a comprehensive and layered strategy to balance personnel, technology, and specialized operational needs.”
That said, it has since come across additional criticism, especially as members are still questioned over what happened last week.
