Supermarket Shooter’s Access To an Assault Rifle Leads To Questions On How Effective a Gun Ban Would Truly Be (Guest: Michael Letts)

A tragic shooting in a Buffalo supermarket, which resulted in the loss of ten people, has left people with questions. Namely, how President Joe Biden is considering getting gun bans put into place.

But a new commentary from the Baltimore Sun indicates that may not be the easiest solution to the problem. The public is still awaiting information on how the 18-year old suspect managed to get his hands on an illegally modified assault rifle so easily.

Here now to discuss the matter further is Michael Letts, founder and CEO for InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers across the country through various sponsorships and charitable foundations. His knowledge of police proceedings – and weapons – make him a suitable subject for today’s conversation.

  1. Considering how easily the shooter managed to get his hands on an Illegal firearm, do you think Biden putting “gun bans” into place would slow sales of such a weapon? Or accelerate them?
  2. You’ve spoken before about how an open carry law like Philadelphia recently did may do a world of good for people, allowing some citizens to act in a potential situation like what unfolded in the Buffalo supermarket. Do you believe this is still the best answer?
  3. We’re seeing a massive rise in crime across various states, mainly due to a shortage of police forces in these areas. Would open carry assist them as well, or could they further add to the problem, depending on who’s carrying the weapons?
  4. What do you think Joe Biden and his colleagues need to do in regards to stopping the ongoing mass shootings we’ve seen? Four incidents took place over the weekend, and they show no signs of slowing down.
  5. How big of a concern is the backlash coming from anti-gun protestors right now? Would you say most of them come from the same anti-police groups we’ve seen on the rise?
  6. Where can we learn more about In-Vest USA? You can visit the official website at http://www.investusa.org.
