SUPER BOWL SMUT GoDaddy.com to Push the Envelope During Broadcast of the Big Game (Bob Peters is in EST)
Apparently, CBS hasn’t learned its lesson. Six years ago, following Super Bowl XXXVIII, the network suffered a massive $550,000 FCC fine for Janet Jackson’s infamous “wardrobe malfunction” that caused a brief flash of her breast during the game’s halftime show.
Now, with indecency watchdogs like Morality in Media President, attorney Robert Peters, already on guard, CBS appears to be flirting with backlash disaster once again. Only this time, any benefit of the doubt it may have had regarding whether or not Jackson’s “malfunction” was not accidental, is out the window.
This time, the shock value has already been purchased. To the dismay of pro-family individuals like Peters, CBS has sold broadcast airtime to GoDaddy.com, a leading Web domain registrar well known for its sexualized TV ads. And, needless to say, given the stage of the most widely watched spectator-sport event in the world, GoDaddy.com is poised to turn the heat up a notch.
After watching previews of the ads, Peters warns parents in a recent Morality in Media press release that “it would appear this year’s Super Bowl ads may push as close to the indecency line as CBS network ‘censors’ will allow, which could be as close as CBS thinks it can get away with.”
And yet, Peters goes on to explain why “the content of (these) Super Bowl ads is not the only problem. GoDaddy.com also provides services to businesses that distribute over the Internet, free of charge and without proof of age, hardcore adult pornography . . . ”
For a thought-provoking view on the decline of media morals as exemplified in GoDaddy.com marketing and other current media trends, call Special Guests to schedule an interview with Bob Peters. All the parents in your audience will greatly appreciate his perspective, his knowledge and his conviction.
