CLARION CALL TO ARM THE ARMY! Hasan Knew Ft. Hood Tragic Flaw: No Guns Allowed on Base (Larry & Erich Pratt interview from DC or by phone)
When the news first broke of the tragic shooting rampage at Texas’s Fort Hood Army Base last week, most anyone who could think clearly about the event wrestled with this simple quandary:
How could a man with a pair of handguns successfully kill 13 professional, highly trained soldiers and wound 42 more, on a United States military base of all places?
Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America (GOA), Larry Pratt, has the frustratingly ironic answer to that question, and he’s available for interviews to explore the issue further.
“Would you believe that the Army isn’t actually armed?” says Pratt, referring to the current gun-control policies that require military personnel—with the exception of the military police—to walk the base without firearms. “When they get back from deployment, the first thing all troops must do is enter what could be called the ‘politically correct’ room, where they surrender their weapons.”
Knowing this as an insider on the base, Major Nidal Malik Hasan also knew his chances were pretty good that he could take more than just one or two lives. And he did.
Of all the gun-control laws 2nd Amendment proponents such as Pratt fight on a daily basis, repealing this one, says Pratt, shouldn’t even be up for discussion, given the threats to the nation and the vulnerability of our own defenses when hamstrung by such a senseless gun-free base policy.
“After Fort Hood, I think the point is made,” said Pratt, giving this clarion call: “Almost all of America’s massacres have taken place in gun-free zones, primarily schools, government buildings and now an Army base. If we are going to protect life, we must permit the disarmed to be armed. We must Arm the Army! Otherwise, Jihadists will continue to single out soft targets where they will be able to kill the greatest number possible.”
Who would’ve thought that one of those “soft targets” would be an Army base? For a nerve-wrenching commentary on this tragic flaw at Fort Hood, call Special Guests today for an interview with Larry Pratt, or the GOA Communications Director, Erich Pratt.
